Murray took just 37 minutes to dispose of the 19-year-old, who is ranked at 2129 in the world rankings and was controversially handed a wildcard for the ATP Tour event.
Zayed mustered just 17 points in the entire match as he failed to register a single game against the two-time Grand Slam winner, who is ranked at number three for the event in Qatar.
Despite having been thrashed, Zayed was pleased for the chance to face Murray: "It was a fantastic experience. A pleasure to be on court."
Murray will next face either Michal Przysiezny of Poland or Germany’s Florian Mayer in the second round of the event ahead of the first Slam of the season in Melbourne.
The win was Murray's quickest ever completed match on the professional tour after he thrashed Spain's Santiago Ventura in 44 minutes at Queen's in 2005.
In the day's other match, Rafael Nadal avenged his 2012 Wimbledon exit by beating Czech Republic's Lukas Rosol in straight sets.
The Spaniard advanced into the second round with a 6-2 7-6(7) victory over the man who knocked him out of the All England Tennis Club in 2012, when the Czech was ranked World No. 100.
